Parade of Lights

Last night my friends Lisa M., Megan E. and I decided to go for an evening kayak in Ventura Keys. I don't live right on the water, but very close. Our friend Megan M. let my gals use her kayaks and launch off her deck. The three of us met at 4:30, 'lit up' and headed out.
The sun was just setting and the water was pretty calm as we paddled to the channel. In the cove the birds were going crazy, flying in huge, squawking flocks. The sky was glowing, and the darker it got the more beautiful the lit-up houses and boats appeared. We headed back to the Keys to admire the decorations - houses and boats. There were parties all over, and dozens of 'Merry Christmases' called out by the revelers and the passing boats.
It was pretty hard to get steady photos in the dark with my waterproof camera, but I managed to grab a few.
After the paddle, we headed back to my house where Mitch, Maggy, Steve and Emily joined us for some food and beverages. It was a fabulous evening and a great way to kick-start my holiday spirit! We're going to try to make this an annual tradition, and get more of us out there next year!
