Today, I got a text message from my friend Bruce at 8:30 am - "Do you want to paddle at 9?" So I gulped my coffee, wolfed down a Cliff bar, and headed to the water. Bruce is a former Long Islander who manages the Ventura Patagonia store. Bruce is an avid outdoorsman and EMT certified. We headed out to the ocean, into the swells, heading south. It was nice to have someone to chat with while paddling. We made it a short trip (1 1/2 hours) because I promised to go cheer for the Patagonia men's volleyball team today.
After I washed the kayak, I jumped on my bike and headed to the state beach. The men's team was in fine form. Glen, Josue, Joe, Ryan, Tony and Oscar played great and like us ladies yesterday, didn't drop a game, and took the gold. A bunch of folks cheered them on, and I took a ton of action pictures - got some good ones!
The sun was out all day today, and the wind was blowing. It is amazing how all the outdoor exercise will tire you out!
I'd go to bed early, but Discovery Channel is showing 'Expedition Alaska' tonight. I was in Juneau and Haines last summer just as they were finished the filming, and I met a bunch of the people who took the Discovery Channel crews out on their adventures. Also, I hear a lot of the places on the show are places I've been! If you missed it tonight, it will be replayed on May 1 and May 3.
