I paddled to oil platform Gina today with a few guys from my kayaking club, California Kayak Friends. At first I was a little nervous about keeping up, but I didn't need to worry. Me & my speedy Suka had no troubles. Super-fast George was the only one who stayed in front of me.It was about 8 miles round trip from Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard to the platform.
There was a contingent of skin-on-frame boaters along, who couldn't resist what they love doing the most - funky rolls. There are a couple of videos in this album.
There are lots of offshore oil platforms on our coast. In case you thought we weren't already drilling.... Don't get me started.
