Wild ride - a paddle to platform Gina

Today, my neighbor Andy and I paddled to platform Gina. It was a lot different than the last paddle out there.

First, it was just the two of us. Andy has only been paddling for a couple of years, and had never made this trip before. It was not a flat, calm day like last time. Today there was a decent wind blowing, and good SW swells of1- 3 feet, with the occasional set of 5 footers. Woo hoo!

When we made out to Gina, Andy & I rafted up for a bit, bobbing in the swells. We watched the sea lions play 'king of the hill' on a big bouy anchored off the platform. The dudes trying to get on had to leap 10 feet out of the water to try to get on top. The ones on top would bark at the jumpers, and push them back down with their flippers. I was gigling like a fool :-)

As we were coming back, a few sneaker waves crept up behind me and broke over my lap. Yow!
The Suka performed fabulously, as always. Loves the waves, steady and fast.

It was a good day - Andy was tired at the end, but I could have paddled for hours longer!
