There was a full moon last night. I just got back from a business trip yesterday afternoon, and organized a sunset / moonlight kayak trip with friends. I launched my boat from Megan's dock, and towed a sit-on-top over to Damien's sailboat. I met the rest of the crew there (Lisa & Mitch, Elissa, Damien , Matt S., Rachael & Dustin).
Elissa picked up the pizzas, and we all had a little dinner before heading out.
The eight of us (4 in sit-on-tops, 4 in sit-insides) loaded up and headed out to the habor. Betsy & her family joined us in the harbor for a bit, but then the 8 headed out into the channel as the light disappeared from the sky.
There was a big south swell outside of the breakwater. We rode it out, trying to keep together. We headed out to the bouy about 1/4 mile outside the harbor. I've never had the Suka out in swells that big before (and in the dark, no less), but she loved the waves! Everyone was wearing headlamps and light sticks, which helped us stick together.
We surfed the swell back into the harbor, and hung out and watched an orange, full moon rise. Beautiful!
