I went kayaking today with a local club - California Kayak Friends. I have mostly been paddling in Ventura, by myself. But coastal paddling is more wisely done with others, plus I'm looking for opportunities to improve my skills (rolling, surf launching/landing).
So I went out in Oxnard with 'the old farts' from the club. It was a beautiful day, and it was interesting to meet some new folks. We paddled about 6 miles, and the way back was fun with a headwind and some bouncy waves. We even saw a few dolphins playing in the surf.
This group does crossings to the Channel Islands and trips both locally and non-local. I'm looking forward to finding new kayak friends and some new adventures!
